Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Reviews
Aveeno Absolutely Ageless is a line of skincare products which are advertised to keep skin looking younger. There are currently five products in the Absolutely Ageless line, which we will discuss below, all of which include a “Blackberry Complex” that is said to be its secret weapon to help nourish and restore skin.
In early 2016 Aveeno sent a number of customers and reviewers free samples of these products in exchange for reviews (more on that below). Although we did not receive free samples, we offer our own results of each product below.
Restorative Night Cream
MSRP: $19.99, 1.7 oz. The Absolutely Ageless Night Cream includes a “Blackberry Complex” which supposedly reduces the visible effects of elastin and collagen loss. It is a competent entrant in the night cream field, which is quite crowded. We found it to provide an acceptable level of moisturizing, but did not stand out above the competition. The consensus of our testers is that it provided excellent hydration, but didn’t remove fine lines.
Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30
MSRP: $19.99, 1.7 fl. oz. With ample SPF and effective moisturizing, the Daily Moisturizer is a solid offering. We found the smell to be a bit harsh, especially when it is applied near the nose area. Despite sporting the Blackberry Complex, we didn’t find a noticeable improvement over other SPF 30 moisturizers that cost less. It has more of a feel of a sunscreen, which you may nor may not need or want, depending on your activity level.
MSRP: $7.99, 5.2 fl. oz. The Nourishing Cleanser is the largest quantity in the line at 5.2 fl. oz., with the lowest price. For that reason alone, we would suggest starting here if you are unsure about the line in general.
Intensive Renewal Serum
MSRP: $19.99, 1.0 fl. oz. The Renewal Serum is said to visibly reduce wrinkles and improve the appearance of your skin within a week. The serum is not greasy and goes on smooth. It provides excellent hydration, although opinions on its ability to reduce wrinkles are bound to vary wildly. The serum is light and leaves skin soft and hydrated.
MSRP: $19.99, 0.5 oz. This product is specifically designed to help fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet around the eyes. Puffiness and dark circles are also said to be lessened. There is no discernible scent once applied. A little goes a long way, which is good because this is the most expensive per-ounce of the bunch. Those who have realistic expectations may see some benefit.
As with any skincare product, there is always a chance that your skin will not react positively to the application of one of the Absolutely Ageless products. You may want to test a small area of skin before slathering it all over yourself.
We noticed that as of this March 2, 2016 writing, nearly every review we could find online was in exchange for a free product. This, we feel, elicits a more positive review on average than those customers who sacrifice their own money to try a product. Receiving a free product may prompt some customers into giving a more positive review than they may have otherwise given, perhaps because of a lack of financial sacrifice, or out of obligation to those who supplied a free product.
The five Absolutely Ageless products by Aveeno are certainly competent entrants in the skincare arena, although their modest results may not warrant the high prices. $20+ for a 0.5 to 1.7 ounces in most cases is hard to justify. The Nourishing Cleanser is the best starting point based on its price-per-ounce.
